A note from Dr. Balogh

My family immigrated to Canada from Hungary between 1956-58, and I am the youngest of seven siblings. I am very grateful to have been born and raised in Canada. At a young age I learned to focus, work hard, and always strive to do my best.

I am also grateful for being able to get through university, dental school and build a dental practice in Burnaby, BC. I have been married for over 25 years to a wonderful and beautiful wife and we have two equally wonderful adult children.

2000+ hours of education in dental implants alone, plus hundreds of hours in related fields.

Personal philosophy and testimony

I am the seventh and last sibling of an immigrant family and very grateful to have been born and raised in Canada. At a young age I learned to focus, work hard and always strived to do my best. I am grateful for being able to get through university, dental school and build a dental practice. I have been married for over 25 years to a wonderful and beautiful wife and we have two equally wonderful adult children.

Professionally I always felt led to provide my very best care for my patients, not only in clinical care but every aspect of service and among everyone they encounter from the front desk to the clinical staff. I am very fortunate and blessed to have a wonderful group of dentists, hygienists, assistants and administrative persons who share my vision and have been very supportive.

For close to the first fifty years of my life I felt that my success was largely attributed to my focus, hard work and determination. My schooling and upbringing was mainly about the things of this world. Whatever math and science could not measure, identify or reconcile probably did not exist. Spirituality and religion was wonderful as a basis for ethical and moral values but it had no basis in reality, let alone in my life.

Through experiencing a very dark and difficult time in my personal life, I felt like I had lost all control…and did not know when or if these difficulties would ever end.

Many times in the past I had been exposed to “religion” but for me there was no deeper meaning or truth to the words. However in searching for understanding during my time of difficulty, I picked up a bible and for the very first time the words and their hidden meaning came to life. I still doubted and questioned but did so with an open mind and heart that maybe, just maybe, some things do indeed exist that are currently way beyond my understanding. Looking at the subject objectively instead of subjectively and without any assumptions or negative biases I came to realize that the words and stories in the bible are not fiction. It speaks of things more profound than simply ethics or morals. It speaks prophetically to our daily life and the long term, and for me it has become a guide to live a more fruitful, peaceful and joyous life.

I came to know that there truly is a God, a Creator, and that there is a Son of God, Jesus, who lived, died and was resurrected to redeem us from our debts and pave the way for our salvation to a different realm. As I grow spiritually, study history and as advances in archaeology and science slowly confirm the events in the bible, I have become even more steadfast in my new understanding.
For those of you who are not spiritual, you may find it difficult to identify with the above statement and I certainly understand. It takes a certain relinquishing, a degree of humility and openness to see things differently and for me it took close to fifty years before I reached that stage. For those of you who are “searching” or “spiritual”, I say wonderful for you… wonderful that your heart is already open to accept as real something that you cannot measure with your five senses! I live with the confidence that one day, whether here or in some future realm, we will all become reconciled with the true God of creation.

My new faith has helped me to endure and overcome past and present difficulties that were insurmountable and “paralysing”. I give thanks and praise knowing that all my past and future success and blessings, as well as my most trying moments are from God above.

So does this impact or influence with my role as a dentist?

I feel I have become a better person and a better dentist.

The underlying nature of God is love….

He commands us to love one another…family, friends, strangers and even our enemies. Love creates in us patience, respect, compassion, empathy, understanding and acceptance of others. I always felt that I had these qualities, but now realize I had the “bar set too low”.

I cannot do anything beyond the physical limits of my hands, eyes or skills, but whatever I do, I do with a spirit that guides me to be open, humble, truthful, caring and loving to all others. I cannot do miracles but I do believe God can and still does.

I wish to thank all of my past and current patients for entrusting me with their dental care. May you all be blessed as I have. For anyone seeking a new dentist, I thank you for even considering us and pray for guidance as you search for the office that is just right for you. May the God above protect, guide and bless each and every one of you!
